Pups Rescued From A Tar Pit

Pups rescued from a tar pit

There are sad stories that end badly, but also sad stories with a happy ending. This is the case of the rescue of three puppies who fell into a pit full of tar. We tell you how it went, we are sure that you too like the news with a happy ending.

Three puppies in a tar pit

It cannot be said with certainty that the three puppies were intentionally thrown into the tar pit, but everything suggests it. This conclusion was reached by the simple fact that there were three dogs in the well. And because animals have a special instinct.

It is possible that during an “outing” a dog falls into a well, but it is impossible and unlikely that two others will follow after seeing what happened to the first one.

Unfortunately, there are still people in the world who behave like this. When puppies are found in the house, they get rid of them in the most atrocious way. This appears to be one such case.

It happened in Spain, in Murcia. Operators of an abandoned animal shelter received a call warning them of the presence of the puppies in the well. They left immediately to rescue the three animals and found themselves faced with this terrible situation.

The rescue operation

When the three dogs arrived at the shelter, the situation immediately seemed more complicated than expected. Getting this amount of tar off the fur and skin was no easy feat. In fact, it took several days to completely clean up the puppies.

One of these was in such desperate situations that there was no choice but to suppress it. The other two could not open either their eyes or their mouths, so thick was the layer of toxic oil that covered them.  Three hours of work with hot water and degreasing soap made it possible to eliminate part of the tar, but it was still not enough.

Nonetheless, the two volunteers did not give up. They continued to clean without stopping, until all traces of oil were removed. And then they gave them a name: Chapa and Pote.

For the uninitiated, chapapote is a Spanish word. It became infamous when the tank of the Prestige oil tanker exploded off the Galician coast, polluting the waters and the coast. Thousands of volunteers from all over the world flocked to clean the beaches and chapapote was the term they used for tar.

We can say that these two names fit perfectly with the two puppies extracted from the tar. Luckily Chape and Pote are doing great now. Ah, they have golden fur, without even a black spot to remember this bad incident. We hope that someone will adopt them soon.

We report the mistreatment

Volunteers at the shelter did not remain with folded arms in the face of this case of animal cruelty. They decided to report the owner of the land where the well is located; we hope that justice takes its course and punishes the guilty.

We invite you to do the same: if you witness an episode of abuse, report it. Don’t be silent. Let’s turn to the authorities, let’s seek justice for all these tortured animals. Because they have the right to have a dignified life and deserve to be defended.

It does not matter if it is a stranger or your neighbor, if the animal is beaten, scolded or left alone all day. If you think that the dog does not deserve a certain behavior on the part of his owner, most likely it is maltreatment. If you fear reprisals, you can also report the crime anonymously, but please do not remain silent.
