Adolfo Domínguez’s Collection For Dogs

While dressing dogs was, in the beginning, a habit of celebrities and billionaires, the trend has changed over the years. More and more people are dressing their dogs. The celebrities have certainly not stopped doing it and the great Spanish designer Adolfo Domínguez has not lost the opportunity to give free rein to his creativity.

And so Adolfo Domínguez managed to create an exclusive and curious collection of clothes dedicated to four-legged friends. A dream (perhaps) for all dog owners. Let’s take a closer look at it.

The new collection for dogs by Adolfo Domínguez

Until a few years ago, dog fashion was limited to raincoats and a few knitted wool coats; today we can find all kinds of garments and accessories, even diamond-encrusted collars.

Adolfo Domínguez accepted the challenge. Imagining a dog dressed in harmony with the style of his owner, he created high quality clothes, with a refined and fun line.

For his catalog he has chosen short-haired and mostly dark-haired dogs. As you can see from the pictures, they are really nice.

Here are some of the clothes made and designed by Adolfo Domínguez:

• Turtleneck sweaters. In soft white wool, with a braid design and a hint of a neck, high but wide enough to make the dog feel comfortable. Warm and elegant, to let your dog walk in style even in winter.
• Passion red. A garnet red raincoat with a half moon shape: an irresistible and original model. Surely you will not see the same.

• Waterproof. With the beige raincoat by Adolfo Domínguez your dog will look like a spectacular Sherlock Holmes. By raising his neck, you will give him a touch of style that not even the most beautiful dog in the world will be able to surpass.

If your resources are limited, you can make clothes for your dog yourself. If you get by a bit with sewing, it’s not difficult. Do this:

• Take the dog’s measurements – width and length – and prepare a model, as if it were for you. Don’t forget to provide the two openings for the front legs. 

• Use an old sweatshirt. Place the model on the fabric and secure it with pins; proceed with the cut.
• Reinforce the edges with a pass of thread, if the fabric is old it may fray.

If you have one of those old sweaters that has been stuck for years now, it’s even easier, especially if your dog is small; it will be enough to cut a sleeve, make two holes in the front to be able to insert the paws and that’s it. The little dog will stay warm all winter.

These are just a few ideas… you can also sew a simple cape, making it from a piece of fabric large enough to cover the dog’s hips. Play with colors: you will give your garment an original touch.

Besides, who can know? We may not be able to afford one of these haute couture pieces, but perhaps we will soon find more affordable collections inspired by Adolfo Domínguez’s designs.
