Fun Ideas To Create A Bed For Your Cat

If you have a kitten in the house, you will know that one of the things they appreciate most is having a comfortable and private place to curl up and spend part of the day. Cardboard boxes, old bins, and even an old suitcase are some of the items you can reuse to make a nice bed. So let’s see how to proceed.

Recycle cardboard boxes, baskets and even televisions

Cats love to hide, so you shouldn’t be surprised if you find them inside shoe boxes, or somewhere else where they can go unnoticed. Their curious nature and great sense of smell take them to unimaginable places, and shoe boxes are one of their favorite hiding places.

In any pet accessories store you will find ready-made cat beds. However, if you want to give vent to your creativity, roll up your sleeves and recycle the things you no longer use to build colorful and comfortable beds for your cats.

• A very simple idea is the shoe box. If your cat is small, this is the ideal solution. The only thing you need is a pillow to put on the bottom. You can replace the box with a basket or a vegetable crate.
• Without a doubt, all closed surfaces can be used to shelter your little friend. You can even try using an old tire from your car. This is an excellent idea if you have a garden. You can paint it with cheerful colors, add a mattress or clothes that you no longer use and… that’s it!

• If you have an old suitcase in your home, now is the time to reuse it. Place it horizontally, leave it open and place a comfortable pillow inside. If you want you can also raise it using the 4 wheels.
• Do you have a PC monitor or an old TV at home and don’t know what to do with it? Simple … use it to create a bed for your cat, being careful to remove the screen and electrical wires. If you prefer, you can paint it or make drawings on it. Place a pillow inside and the bed is ready.
• Another idea is to use an old paint bucket or bucket. The first thing to do is to line it with foam, then line it with a light sheet and place it in a horizontal position, so that your kitten can get in and out without problems.

• If your little friend likes to be high up, put a shelf on the wall of the house and add a pillow to it.
• A bolder proposal would be to make a two-story house  with two large cardboard boxes. First take one of the boxes and make some holes, to allow your kitten to enter and exit without problems; to arrange the second floor, just remove the base of the second box and put it aside and  glue this box on the first. With a cutter make  some “windows” so that the space is ventilated and bright. Then build a pitched roof with some cardboard. You can reuse what you have removed from the base of this second box, and finally place a nice pillow inside it.

How to make a mattress for your cat’s bed?

The surface where your cat will spend most of the day must be soft and comfortable. So, to make one you can use an old pillow that you no longer use, and line it with a suitable fabric, such as wool, which cats like so much. You can also make the pillow with a piece of foam and then line it with the fabric of your choice. Finally, even an old shirt could be a good alternative, if you sew all the edges and fill everything with foam. We recommend that you use a zippered shirt so that it is easy to disassemble and wash.
